Top cop hails burglary reduction
A TOP policeman has heralded a reduction in the number of burglaries as 'fantastic'.
So far this year, There have been 265 burglaries in Slough, down 23 (8%) from the same time last year.
Slough Local Police Area superintendent Richard Humphrey said: "We are seeing real successes in reducing burglary in Slough which is fantastic."
He added there has been no increase in Asian Gold thefts since the start of the Asian wedding season in June. Asian gold thefts accounted for a third of all burglary offences in Slough between April last year and March this year, reaching 300 in total.
So far this year, 45 people in Slough have been charged for burglary offences.
Superintendent Humphrey said: "We still ask people to people to be vigilant about protecting their properties."
He encouraged home owners to ensure windows and doors are securely locked, and valuable items stored securely in banks or safes.
