SMILES were aplenty as an incredible 95.3% of pupils racked up at least five or more A* to C grades, including English and maths.

Overall, 94.5% of GCSE exams were graded between A* to C, and headteacher John Constable said: "We want to congratulate all our students that have worked extremely hard for these results and hope they enjoy their success."

Star performer Sophie Schofield, 16, achieved six A*s and eight As. The youngster, who will stay on at the school to study A-levels, said: "There is so much competition for university places and so much pressure. It's been blood, sweat and tears, but it is all worth it!"

The Reddington Drive school saw its overall results slightly drop, but 51.4% of grades were still A* to A.

Mr Constable added: "We are slightly down on last year, but something is going on nationally and we will have to see wait to see what the effect of that is."
