FRUSTRATED residents have raised concerns of dealers peddling drugs outside their homes.

More than 50 Langley residents said they had witnessed drug dealing in their street during a Langley Neighbourhood Forum meeting with Superintendent Simon Bowden, Local Police Area Commander for Slough, on Tuesday.

He assured villagers there was not a 'disproportionate’ problem in the area, but said police need to up their communication to inform people the work they are doing – including using social media sites Twitter and Bebo.

But Upton ward Cllr Rayman Bains said: “The issue of drug dealing is affecting the whole of Langley. Each resident has a story to tell about people in their cars dealing drugs.

“Residents show me details they have written down and sent to the police but there is no action.” Other residents raised concerns during the meeting, but Supt Bowden said: “We don’t deal with the problem by tackling the users, what we want is the dealers. We need to tell the wider community when we have done a drugs warrant in a particular area.

“But we do not have a disproportionate drug problem in this area.” He urged residents to keep reporting the incidents, including taking down the car’s registration number. “When we get registration details those numbers are used by our intelligence teams and are put on lists with automatic recognition so if officers are not there in time they can trace the owners,” he added. “We might not get them in that place but we might find them somewhere else.” Langley Police Station Sergeant Pashmira Mann added: “Keep the information coming – we have one drug warrant every three or four weeks and every incident comes from the public.” Supt Bowden also said talks about downsizing from the current High Street base were underway. Proposals are on the table to move it into a new £3m development on the Merrymakers Pub site, in Meadow Road.
