A FAMILY had to be evacuated after a chicken takeaway shop set fire.
Firefighters were called to K's Chicken Takeaway in Chalvey High Street at around 4am this morning, and spent around three hours tackling the blaze.
Two pumps from Slough and one from Langley attended the incident, in which a family of six - two adults and four children under 12 - were evacuated from the flat above the takeaway with the assistance of firefighters, after they broke in through rolling shutters at the entrance and exit.
Watch manager Hayden Jenkins from Slough fire station said that firefighters used four breathing apparatus in tackling the blaze.
"It was quite a severe fire in the food preparation area of the restaurant," he added.
"There was extensive damage to the whole of the ground floor of the restaurant.
"We believe that it was caused by an electrical fault in a food warmer."
