A 39-YEAR-OLD man who burgled a house less than half a mile away from his own home has been jailed.
Mark Halsey, of Faraday Road, Slough, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years at Reading Crown Court on Monday (11), after admitting to burgling a house in Northborough Road, Slough.
Halsey broke into the home while the residents were sat watching television in their living room. One of the occupants noticed they had been burgled when she later went into the kitchen and found her purse and keys were missing.
Detective Constable Amy Pendergast said: “This sentence should send out a clear message that burglaries are not acceptable. They are an invasion of one’s privacy and will not be tolerated.
“Here in Slough, investigating and reducing burglaries continues to be one of our main priorities.
