A YOUNG child was injured as two robbers stole a handbag from a woman in her 60s in one of two linked robberies.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incidents, which happened within 35 minutes of each other in Slough on Friday, August 15.

A woman in her 60s was walking down Barnfield with a pushchair at around 10.10am, and as she approached the junction with Elmshott Lane, two men approached her from behind.

They snatched her handbag from the pushchair with force, knocking it over and causing the young child to fall out, who sustained bruising from the fall.

The two offenders ran off to a waiting silver Ford Galaxy people carrier and drove off towards St Andrews Crescent.

Earlier in the day, the two robbers struck when they approached another woman from behind.

At 9.35am, a 36-year-old woman was walking along Elmshott Lane when the men approached and tried to grab her handbag from her shoulder.

They were unsuccessful and ran off towards a waiting car.

Both offences are being linked by police, as they received matching descriptions of the offenders, and the get-away vehicle, and due to the close proximity of the two incidents.

Both robbers have been described as white men of slim build in their early 20s.

The first offender was around 5ft 5ins tall and wore a beige coloured baseball cap, navy hooded jacket, jeans and black and white trainers.

The second offender wore a baseball cap, jeans and a light coloured top.

The third offender, the driver of the silver Ford Galaxy people carrier, was a white man, of a skinny build, in his early 20s with blonde hair, wearing a beige jacket.

PC James Rex from Slough Police station said: “The road was very busy with both people and traffic, the offenders were also seen in Morton Way that morning acting suspiciously.
