PLANS to expand a primary school to improve facilities for pupils will be heard this week.

Lynch Hill Primary School, in Garrard Road, has submitted proposals for new administration facilities, an extension to the Key Stage 1 hall and canteen, and a new reception entrance foyer.

The canteen will also be extended into a neighbouring classroom, and the loss of learning space will be offset by 'more flexible use’ of existing classroom facilities.

Planning officers have recommended the part single-storey, part two-storey extension is delegated to the acting planning manager.

A report, due to be presented to Slough Borough Council’s planning committee on Wednesday, states: “There is a requirement to expand the existing facilities to meet the demand from pupils to ensure that facilities within the school are not compromised.” It adds: “This application seeks only to improve the existing facilities serving the existing pupil numbers within the school.

“As confirmed by the agent, this application does not seek to increase the number of students within the school.” The school is also awaiting a decision on plans for a temporary single-storey building to house 80 pupils starting at its sister secondary school Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy in September.
