TRAFFIC lights at a busy junction where a woman was injured in a collision with a lorry had been not working for two weeks.

The pedestrian was treated by paramedics as she laid motionless on the floor next to the lorry, which was transporting a cherry picker.

The collision happened at 4pm on Wednesday, at the junction of Windsor Road and Herschel Street, Slough.

The woman was taken to Wexham Park Hospital, Slough, where she was treated for minor injuries.

Nearby workers have said it was an accident waiting to happen.

Hannah Wood, from Simply Pleasure, based in Windsor Road, said: “It [the junction] has been horrendous. There’s no order to it at all. It’s just a mess and poorly set out.

“How difficult is it to get temporary lights put up, to stop something like this happening?” The traffic lights were working again by yesterday (Thursday).

A power failure had caused the outage and the lights had been out since August 27.

Energy firm SSE said: “We have been made aware of this and engineers have been carrying out investigations.” The spokeswoman added work to fix the problem could include digging up the road.

She was unaware the lights were working again.

A council spokeswoman added: “We have been pushing SSE since it happened to get them to sort the power issue out.”
