A GRIEVING family has paid tribute to a 'loving' mum and 'gorgeous boy' after their deaths at Slough Railway Station.

A British Transport Police statement issued by the family of Rubina 46, and Amaar Khan 10, read: “Rubina was a loving mother, wife, daughter and sister who will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Amaar was a cute, gorgeous little boy, with a lovely cheeky side, and we will all miss him so much. Their loss has left a huge hole in our lives and we are all struggling to come terms with what has happened.

“We have, however, been comforted and humbled by the support of the community. More than 1,000 people have been to see us to pay their respects, which really is testament to Rubina’s character as she was loved by one and all.

“This is an indescribably difficult time for the family and we now ask to be given the space and time we need to grieve.” Amaar was a pupil at Godolphin Junior School.

Acting Headteacher Carol Singh said: “The whole school is shocked and saddened by the tragic incident at Slough Railway Station yesterday. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Amaar and his mother.

“We will be working with counsellors to provide comfort and support to pupils, staff and parents who have been affected by this tragedy.

“Amaar was a lovely young boy who was passionate about both sports and computers.

“However, he will be most remembered for his amazing smile which simply lit up the room.

“He was greatly loved by all in the school and we will miss both him and his mother.” Jane Wood, director of wellbeing at Slough Borough Council, added: “We are deeply shocked by what happened at Slough Railway Station and our thoughts are with the family and friends of Amaar and his mother.

“Specialist staff are providing support to the school where he was a pupil and there is professional support available for the family.”
