A SUPERMARKET that will 'modernise and rejuvenate’ the 'neglected end’ of Farnham Road has been given the go ahead.
Mirenpass Ltd said the new supermarket at 370-386 will offer a 'very modern shopping experience’.
It will take over the building, next to Lidl, which is currently part occupied by an electrical wholesaler.
It was given the go ahead, subject to satisfactory financial developer contributions, at a planning meeting on Thursday last week. A spokesman for the company said: “We see the supermarket as a vast improvement of the building that is there now.
“We feel it will bring much required rejuvenation to this end of Farnham Road, which is the neglected end.” Plans also include seven two-bedroom and six one-bedroom flats, with parking. The ground floor would include the supermarket. The first floor would be more retail, a crèche and cafe, and the flats would be on the second floor.
