'DANGEROUS’ drivers who are slowing down on a dual carriageway before mounting and parking up on the central reservation have been slammed for putting motorists’ lives at risk.

Slough Borough Council said it has received a large amount of complaints about motorists parking on the central reservation of the A412 Uxbridge Road.

Up to 10 cars a day have been spotted parking on the central reservation, on the stretch of road between Broadmark Road and The Frithe.

A motorist, who lives nearby, said it has been going on for months and has hit out at the 'ridiculous’ drivers who he says are endangering lives.

“It’s so dangerous it’s untrue,” the motorist, who did not want to be named, said. “There will be an accident before long. Slowing down in the fast lane to park up on central reservation - it’s ridiculous. They are putting other road users at risk by parking there.” While the parking is not deemed illegal, the council said it is considered dangerous. A spokeswoman said it could also be treated by police as dangerous driving or driving without due care and attention.

Unhappy residents have complained and asked for parking restrictions. Mary Blumbergs, posting on The Observer Facebook page, said: “This has been going on since they built up the banking on the sliproad where people used to park.” Kelly Fletcher added: “I came through on Saturday at around 5pm and there were at least 8-10 cars there.” The council’s parking officers are now taking action, with proposals in the pipeline for double yellow lines.

A council spokeswoman said: “We have been made aware of this, and as part of the next round of pavement parking we are going to propose double yellow lines at this location to try to stop this from happening.” A consultation could go out in the new year.
