FOUR lucky 10-year-olds got to meet Prince William after making their own wreath for a Remembrance event.

Marcelle Casey-Blake and Rehan Shafi, from Priory School, and Taylor Welland-Fulford and Kally-Ann Bodman, from Claycots Primary School, met The Duke of Cambridge last week.

They were chosen to show the prince the wreaths and remembrance message boards made by pupils at both schools. It was part of the SkillForce 10th Annual Gala Dinner at the Imperial War Museum on Wednesday last week (12).

Prince William, after meeting the pupils, said: “It was clear that they, like those children who gather at the Tower of London or at Remembrance Day parades, are grasping something that will instil hopefulness and commitment about a better future for themselves and in their generation.” The wreaths were made during SkillForce Junior Princes Award classes run in the schools. The scheme is designed to help primary pupils prepare for step up to secondary school through character-building projects and activities SkillForce Instructor Pete Brunsden added: “I am so proud of all the pupils involved. The whole group deserve to be recognised for the project and a special mention goes to the ones who have come to London and presented their Remembrance items to our Royal Patron. They were in great spirits all day and behaved brilliantly and were a credit to their schools and Slough.” Pupils then got to visit London sights including the Tower of London poppy installation.
