A 44-YEAR-OLD man has been convicted of attempted murder after a ‘frenzied’ stab attack on a young mother.

Murateb Hussain stabbed the woman 12 times while she was sat in her car in Wexham Road in the early hours of April 1 last year.

Hussain then drove the woman to the hospital where he was arrested by officers and charged later that day.

The victim was treated at Wexham Park Hospital with seven stab wounds to her abdomen, two to each breast and one to the left arm. Doctors said the mum was very lucky to avoid injury to her major organs.

Hussain pleaded guilty to grevious bodily harm with intent but denied attempted murder. His trial at Reading Crown Court started on Monday and a jury took less than five hours to find him guilty on Thursday.

Speaking after the verdict, investigating officer Detective Sergeant Steve Middleweek, from Bracknell local CID, said: “This was a frenzied attack on a young mother as she was sat in her car.

“Despite knowing otherwise, he pleaded not guilty to attempted murder but the jury listened to the evidence and did not believe his story.

“Hopefully this conviction, and the knowledge that Hussain will now face time in prison, will help the victim move on with her life and find some closure after this horrific assault.” Hussain has been remanded in custody to be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Monday (26).
