A JURY took just two hours and 40 minutes to find Michael Wenham guilty of murdering a prostitute.

They delivered a unanimous verdict at Reading Crown Court today. Wenham will be sentenced on Friday morning.

The court had earlier heard how the dad-of-three wanted to become an MI5 spy and kill radical Muslim preacher Anjem Choudary.

Wenham, 37, started having thoughts about killing after he saw an American horror film called Hostel, jurors heard.

In the 2005 film students are lured into a horrifying torture ring by attractive women.

Wenham, of Collingwood Road, Uxbridge, denied murdering prostitute Karolina Nowikiewicz at a flat in Lowestoft Drive, Haymill, in February last year, but admits manslaughter with 'diminished responsibility’.

Pavlos Panayi QC, defending, said on Tuesday: “It’s not rational for him to think he can kill Anjem Choudary like a vigilante. It’s not a rational judgement for him to form that he will become a hitman.” Mr Wenham was reading a book on serial killers and had emailed MI5 because he wanted to be recruited as a spy, the court heard.

“This was a highly irrational thought process that all have one thing in common - killing,” Mr Panayi said.

Jurors in the case were sent out to consider their verdict on Wednesday. The trial, which started at Reading Crown Court on Monday last week, had earlier heard Mr Wenham had 'dark thoughts’.

Jurors were told Mr Wenham was insecure about his penis size and a botched operation had reduced the size from five to three inches.

It was bandaged at the time of the killing. Dr Seena Fazel, a professor of forensic psychiatry, gave evidence on Tuesday.

He was asked by Judge John Reddihough if the killing was a substitute for a sexual act, to which he said he did not agree with.

Mr Wenham, described as a 'sexual deviant’, had told Dr Fazel he was bisexual and had previously had sex with a transgender prostitute.

The jury was told he had paraphilias including in sadism, masochism and objectophilia - sexual excitement caused by objects.

The court heard last week from wife Dawn who said her husband 'has issues and needs help’. She is standing by Mr Wenham, who she described as 'her rock’.

Mr Wenham told his wife he was going to work on the day of the attack. Instead he went to Screwfix, bought a Stanley Knife and arrange to meet Ms Nowikiewicz before slicing her throat and confessing to police.
