MICHAEL Wenham, who killed a prostitute in Slough in February last year, has today been sentenced to life in prison.

Wenham, 37. was sentenced at Reading Crown Court today after being found guilty on Wednesday at the same court of the murder of Karolina Nowikiewicz at a flat in Lowestoft Drive, Haymill on February 17, 2014.

He will serve a minimum of 26 years.

In sentencing, Judge John Reddihough said: "This can only be described as a most callous and brutal killing."

During the trial, the jury heard how on the day of the killing, Wenham told his wife Dawn he was going to work, but instead he went to Screwfix, bought a Stanley Knife and arranged to meet Ms Nowikiewicz before slicing her throat.

He confessed to police shortly afterwards.

The court also heard how Wenham was insecure about his penis size and a botched operation had reduced the size from five to three inches. He was still recovering from the operation at the time of the murder.

Wenham, of Collingwood Road, Uxbridge, had pleaded not guilty to murder, instead admitting manslaughter with 'diminished responsibility’.

However, the jury took just two hours and 40 minutes to find Wenham guilty of murder.

In sentencing, Judge John Reddihough added: "Videos before the killing showed you to be acting in a chillingly calm and calculated manner.

"I take into account you have expressed remorse for what you've done. I'm willing to accept a degree of depression may have contributed to your action and that there are other stresses in your life at the time."
