A DAY of action will be held tomorrow to improve the quality of life for Chalvey residents.

The day. led by Slough Borough Council working with its partners, is aimed at at tackling and reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and environmental issues.

The day of action will run in Chalvey from 10.30am until 4.00pm and will bring together a broad range of partners and local residents.

Organisations that will be involved in the CRED (Crime Reduction and Environment Day) include a whole host of council services including Neighbourhood services, community safety, drug and alcohol action team, youth services, neighbourhood enforcement and partners such as Thames Valley Police and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Battersea Dogs and Cats will also be on hand to offer free micro-chipping and animal welfare advice.

The day of action will involve resident’s concerns including dealing with litter and flytips, dealing with concerns about antisocial behaviour, crime reduction advice and advice on smoke alarms.

With the focus being on resident involvement, the council has been working closely with Chalvey Community Forum. The teams will be based in Alexandra Road by the Chalvey Plaza.

Nahid Moghul, community project officer at Slough Borough Council said: “Events like this can make a huge difference to the community as they instill a sense of pride and help provide reassurance.

“Action days are a great way to involve local residents and businesses and take on board their concerns and help make Chalvey a great place to live and work.

“We will continue to work with our partners on CREDs as they provide a fantastic opportunity to tackle local problems together.”
