A PENSIONER has been found guilty of four historic sexual abuse charges.

Joseph Armotrading, of Salthill Drive, Slough, was found guilty by majority verdict of four counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14 years following a five-day trial at Oxford Crown Court.

The 78-year-old pleaded not guilty to the offences which took place between the late 1970s and early 1980s in High Wycombe, Oxford and Slough and all related to one victim. He had been charged on May 22, 2014.

Detective Constable Maria Morrisey, from Abingdon police station, said: “I would like to commend the bravery of the victim in this case in coming forward and speaking to police about what Armotrading did to her. Thames Valley Police takes all reports of this nature extremely seriously and will always conduct a thorough investigation, no matter how much time has passed.

“Armotrading has been found guilty by jury of this crime and can now expect to serve a lengthy prison sentence.” Armotrading was found guilty on Monday last week. He will be sentenced at the same court on May 18.
