    Policed to see them!

A LONG awaited and much needed police office in Britwell was finally declared open on Monday. The £10,000 community police office is situated in the grounds of Britwell Community Centre in Long Furlong Drive. The new facility, funded by Thames Valley Police and the parish council, is the culmination of a long campaign by Britwell residents for their own police station. Britwell Sergeant Tony Welch said: "The police point provides a base for the neighbourhood policing team in the heart of Britwell. "Officers will be able to use it for most of their operational activities, instead of going back to Slough police station, which will enable them to spend more time out on the beat. "Although the police point will not be open to the public round the clock, it will be used to hold meetings and take statements. We plan to run regular beat surgeries there to coincide with busy times when lots of people are visiting the community centre next door." Keys to the new temporary building were formally handed over to Supt Pete Davies by the chairman of the parish council, Yvonne Roles, at the police point on Monday. Supt Davies, commander of Slough local police area, said: "I am delighted with the help and assistance the Britwell Parish Council and the people of Britwell have provided with both funding and the space next to the community centre. "This is an ideal location for us to have the police post. There has always been a will from the parish council and the local residents to secure a police post on the Britwell and we have been delighted to work with them to achieve their goal. "The opening of the police post is another important milestone in the rollout of neighbourhood policing in Slough." The Britwell neighbourhood policing team comprises Insp Jon Goosey, Sgt Tony Welch, PC Lewis Cann, PC Emma Gregory, PC Dave Howard, PCSO Nicky Annetts and PCSO Harmeet Sohal.
