THE Iver Golf Academy (IGA) has re-opened its driving range and golf facilities following a recent extensive refurbishment.

And to further enhance the investment undertaken by Shannon Construction, golf professional Mark Grieve has joined from Calcot Park Golf Club in Reading.

Grieve has a distinguished career in golf. In 1982 he was England Boys' Under 18 number one player and beat Jasper Parnevik to the British Boys Championship.

As a professional he played on the European Tour with success in Spain.

Grieve - who also coaches members of the Berks, Bucks & Oxon (BBO) Golf Partnership Academy and the Berkshire Girls squad - has an individual style and teaches all ages and abilities, running beginner classes and ladies only sessions.

He said: "Every golfer has their own swing and wants different results out of the game, from pure exercise to winning competitions.

"My method is to find what the player wants out of the game and build a programme to help them achieve their goals.

"The IGA is an excellent teaching facility with its open and undercover driving range, pitching area and a challenging nine-hole course to help develop all aspects of the game." The academy has also employed James Sullivan as assistant professional, helping Grieve with the teaching programme and development of the site.

The Iver Golf Academy - off Hollow Hill Lane, Iver - has also been selected by the BB&O Golf Partnership as a teaching academy centre for 2013.

Steve Davies has returned to the club as head green keeper while new staff have been employed to help in the running and management of the clubhouse and catering facilities.

The owners are delighted that they have created new employment opportunities in the area and, with the refurbishment facilities that have been undertaken, look forward to welcoming local residents to the IGA.

TO celebrate golf being included in the 2016 Olympic Games the newly-refurbished Iver Golf Academy (IGA) are offering free lessons.

The 15-minute lessons with professionals Mark Grieve and James Sullivan are available every Saturday afternoon throughout December.

Head coach and director of golf Grieve, who recently joined IGA from Calcot Park Golf Club in Reading said: "The Olympic legacy is so important to adults and children, and at the IGA we wanted to make our contribution towards those goals."
