WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) Athletics Club have made their best start to Division One of the British Men’s League for several years.

The local club recorded a comfortable win in their home match at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre last Saturday.

WSEH produced a total of 349 points for victory, with City of Liverpool (335) in second position and Southampton (294) in third place.

The tally was boosted by a number of personal bests from athletes making their Senior League debut, plus the presence of leading decathletes.

Ashley Bryant opened his account with a win in the long jump (7.27m). Peter Moreno finished in third place with 6.43m.

Moreno had to dash between the long jump and pole vault, which he did to good effect in second position on 4.40m.

Euan Bryden won the B-string with 4.20m.

In the hammer event, Jake Norris, 15, was not overawed by his senior opponents and finished in third place with a personal best of 54.04m.

Mikki Finn was back in WSEH colours on Saturday and he won the B-string with 49.71m.

The sprint events added to the points tally with a stylish win for Deji Tobais in an excellent 10.28 seconds (secs).

Tobais then went on to take third place in the 200m (20.98secs). Malcolm Gledhill was similarly placed in the B-string in 21.9secs (pb).

Ricky Harvie led for most of the 1,500m before being overhauled in the run-in and having to settle for fourth in 3:55.17.

There was a personal best for debutant Adam Moore, 17, who clocked 4:03.62.

Alex Goodall was the best of the WSEH duo in the 3,000m, finishing fourth on 8:33.2.

The 100m hurdles provided maximum points for the local club with A and B-string wins from Ben Reynolds (13.81secs) and Bryant (14.41secs).

The points tally was repeated in the triple jump with victories for Jonny Sawyers (15.36m) and Dami Famikin (13.11m).

Osman Muskwe showed his dominance in the discus with a personal best win with 53.04m.

Muskwe then finished fourth in the shot (14.26m), with Vytus Druktenis taking victory in the B-string with a throw of 13.49m.

The best of the relays proved to be the 4x400m where Joe Yarde, Bryant, Rory Graham-Watson and Moreno clinched fourth with 3:20.57.
