GREAT Britain’s best-ever sprint road cyclist Mark Cavendish and his wife Peta have reached out to the public to sign up to Hero Ride 2015.

The event is Help Foe Heroes’ largest fundraising challenge and will see over 2,000 cyclists raise over £1 million for injured servicemen and women.

Hero Ride 2015 is a series of cycling challenges that start from Help For Heroes recovery centres before reaching Windsor on June 21.

Winner of 25 Tour De France stages, Cavendish is a Help For Heroes patron and has taken part in the annual Hero Ride over the past couple of years.

He said: “The Hero Ride is an amazing opportunity to cycle alongside our injured men and women, and to hear their inspirational stories.

“I’ve seen first hand how Help For Heroes supports them and their families, and in the future that support is going to be more important than ever.

“I would urge anyone who has ever thought about doing something life-changing or challenging to sign-up and cycle alongside these amazing people.” Hero Ride 2015 will see organised rides leave recovery centres in Plymouth, Catterick, Colchester and Tidworth.

They will join rides from Paris and Edinburgh for the last 10-miles to the grand finale celebration at the Hero Ride Village in Windsor.

Help For Heroes co-founder, Bryn Parry, said: “The Hero Ride sees cyclists from all over the country make their way to Windsor.

“It culminates in the biggest national demonstration of support for our wounded heroes.” To sign up to Hero Ride 2015 or donate please visit www.heroride.org.uk or call 01725 514106.
