SLOUGH Town picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday evening as hat-tricks from Scott Harris and Lewis Putman helped them to a 7-1 romp over Histon United.

The Rebels headed into the game looking for their first win of the season – after drawing two and losing one of their opening three games.

Things got off to the worst possible start for Neil Baker's side as Jordan Nicholson's long range effort gave the visitors the lead with less than a minute on the clock.

It would've been easy for heads to drop in the Slough side but they fought back to level within four minutes.

Putman grabbed his first of the game with a smart near-post finish after a swift Rebels counter-attack.

He grabbed his second to put Slough in control from a yard out in the 23rd minute and the Rebels never looked back.

It was 5-1 by half-time as three goals in eight minutes moments before half-time put the game beyond doubt.

A quick-fire brace from Harris and a deflected strike by Adam Martin had settled the tie by the halfway point and Slough were in cruise control throughout the second-half.

Harris completed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute before Putman joined him with a haul of three goals as he made it 7-1 in the 85th minute.

It was a much needed win for the Rebels after they salvaged a point at Stratford Town on Saturday with a 95th minute strike from Harris.

It was another game where Slough got off to the worst possible start, as Joe Thompson-Brown fired home the rebound after Mark Scott had made an impressive save.

Scott was twice more called into action in the early stages to prevent Stratford doubling their lead.

Slough gradually eased their way into the contest and had chances through Putman and Warren Harris but they couldn't find the target.

All the attacking intent in the second half was from Slough and they spurned numerous chances and would've been wondering how they'd not grabbed a share of the spoils as the game moved into added time.

But in a script to be fittingly played out in William Shakespeare's birthplace, Harris popped up in added time to secure a dramatic draw at Stratford.

A corner was swung into the box and Scott – who had made his way up for the corner – caused a nuisance and Harris was on hand to drill the ball home to spark wild celebrations from the visitors.

The results leave Slough 12th in the Southern Premier League, with a trip to Hitchin Town on Saturday (3pm).
