JON Underwood has admitted that Slough Town put in a 'rubbish performance' in a surprise 2-1 defeat against Bedworth United on Saturday.

Bedworth arrived at Holloways Park second from bottom in the Southern Premier Division table. The Rebels are mid-division having lost just one of their previous five home matches.

All seemed well when Charlie Mpi fired Slough into a second half lead, but the visitors fought back to secure three vital points in their battle with relegation, leaving Neil Baker to question his side's attitude.

Rebels' joint-manager tweeted: "Poor conditions, poor performance, got what we deserved. A few lads need to realise they can't just turn it on when they want."

Fellow boss Underwood added: "Poor game, rubbish performance, got what we deserved."

Slough edged the game but the score was goalless at the break.

The home team broke the deadlock when Warren Harris got in down the right and found Mpi, who took a touch and acrobatically volleyed the ball past keeper Denham Hinds.

Bedworth levelled the scores straight away when a cross from Daniel Creaney was headed in by Jordan Archer.

The visitors got themselves in front as Archer bagged his second goal of the game.

Slough had chances to get back on level terms but failed to take them. Ed Smith wasted the best opportunity when a loose ball fell to him with the goal gaping. The forward put his first-time effort wide of the post.

The Rebels, now in 14th place in the table, are away to Dorchester Town this Saturday (3pm) and then Cirencester Town next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Burnham saw their must-win fixture away at Wantage Town in Southern Division One South & West postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Still second from bottom in the table, The Blues host Yate Town on Tuesday (7.45pm) and then Slimbridge this Saturday (3pm).
