LANGLEY Old Boys were crowned champions of Thames Valley Division Three this season after a 5-0 win at Maidenhead Nomads Reserves on Sunday.

The Old Boys were the visitors to Desborough Park in a game that decided the title and, having set the pace early on, they took the lead inside 10 minutes with a goal from Garret Pikulak.

With Maidenhead now on the back foot, Langley bagged two more goals within the next 20 minutes. The first a wonder strike from Luciano Venturini and the second a brilliant glancing header from Tom Absalom.

Three minutes before the end of the first-half, and with the visitors keeping up the pace, a fourth goal was added to the tally after a powerful strike from Pikulak.

Langley took their foot off the gas in the second-half but we were in control and, 10 minutes from the end, the ball was stabbed home from a corner by Michael Kennedy.

At the end of the match there were celebrations all round as Langley Old Boys secured the points to be crowned champions with two matches still to play.

Player-manager Steve Roye said: “We have all put in a lot of hard work this season and before the match on Sunday I asked the players to step up to the plate and secure the title, and they did exactly that.”
