SLOUGH Town could be set for an emotional and historic return to the borough as early as Monday, August 29 it was confirmed this week.

The new £8 million Community Sports Facility at Arbour Park will be handed over to Slough Borough Council on Monday, August 15.

There will still be work to do but, following meetings between the council and the football club, the much-anticipated first home match is planned for Bank Holiday Monday.

The fixtures for the new season were released last week and The Rebels could mark their homecoming with a league match against rival club Hayes & Yeading United.

Slough Town chairman Steve Easterbrook told the Observer: “After over a decade in the wilderness it’s great to know that very soon we will be back in Slough playing our games.

“As you can imaging there are still a number of things that need to be completed and these are scheduled to be carried out over the coming weeks. However, our first game back in Slough could be as early as August 29, which of course would be brilliant.

“For me personally it will be the end of a very, very long journey and there will will be a feeling of both achievement and hope for the future.

“Whilst the Community Sports Facility will provide a home for the club, which is over 130 years old, it will be a facility that can be used and enjoyed by a wide range of the community.”

He continued: “What’s important is finally returning home and becoming a a part of the community again.

“If our first game does happen to be a derby against Hayes & Yeading then that would be fantastic. They are a great club and it will be a tough encounter as they were playing Conference football last season, but we’re just happy to be home.”

Easterbrook added: “The success of our season will depend on many factors but none more so than the support we receive.

“We’re still offering fantastically priced season tickets to mark our return to Slough. In fact, someone mentioned that our season tickets, which includes 23 home league games, are a similar price to what was paid last season for attending one Premiership game.

“As usual the first month looks tough however, just like every other club in our league, we’re ready for the challenge and working hard to get off to a good start.

“With the players we have retained and the quality of the additions, I know this season is going to be very exciting.”
