BOXING in Slough and South Bucks continued on its upward curve this week after it was announced that another young talent has signed a contract with Frank Warren.

“Gorgeous” George Jago hails from Farnham Royal and has sealed a three-year professional deal with the boxing manager and promoter.

The contract was signed on the same day as Iver Heath super heavyweight, Naylor Ball.

Jago, 18, made a successful transition from the amateur ranks to stop Bulgarian, Mario Petrov, inside four rounds on his professional debut in June of this year.

Jago believes he has what it takes to be a champion boxer and now linked in with Warren, could be bound for bigger and better things in the future.

Mark Jago, the father of George, told the Observer: “George has signed with Frank and we are just waiting on his next fight date. There is one possible date in November in Brentwood, and one in December.

“George has been back in training for four-to-five weeks now so we’ve got plenty of time. He’s young and we’re taking it one step at a time but things are all going forward.”

The form of his debut win was boosted when Petrov defeated the experienced Paul O’Brien in London earlier this month.

Jago, a boxing welterweight, will continue to be managed by George Carman.
