SLOUGH Town suffered a second consecutive league defeat for the first time this season when losing 2-0 at St Ives Town on Saturday.

The Rebels have not made the best of starts to the New Year as defeat at Westwood Road follows the loss to Chesham United last week.

After Slough defender Guy Hollis headed off the line, St Ives took the lead through Dubi Ogbonna on 16 minutes.

Ogbonna raced onto a forward pass and lifted the ball over keeper Mark Scott.

The Rebels’ best chance in the first-half came when Gavin James turned his man and shot into the side-netting.

The visitors got closer to goal after the break as Charlie Moone headed wide from a James Dobson free-kick.

However, their chances of getting back into the game were all but over when St Ives were awarded a penalty on 82 minutes.

Dobson brought down Tom McGowan before Jack Higgs sent Scott the wrong way from the spot.

The result means Slough have dropped to fourth place in the league table ahead of the trip to bottom side Cinderford Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).

The Rebels are then away to mid-table Biggleswade Town on Saturday (3pm).

Burnham suffered a sixth consecutive defeat in the Hellenic Premier Division when losing 4-0 away to Flackwell Heath on Saturday.

Dan Molloy got a couple for the new league leaders, with Dan Burnell and Liam Tack adding the others.

The result means Burnham remain bottom of the league table ahead of a must-win clash with second-bottom Henley Town at The Gore on Saturday (3pm).

Maidenhead United saw their lead at the top of National League South cut to eight points after a 2-2 draw at St Albans City on Saturday.

Returning from a loan spell from Stains Town, Sam Barratt scored twice to give the Magpies a clear lead but a late rally from St Albans saw the game finish with honours even.

Tom Bender pulled a goal back with 18 minutes to go and Sam Merson restored parity in the final minute of normal time.

Maidenhead do not have a fixture to fulfil this Saturday but welcome Slough to York Road on Tuesday January 17 in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup.
