THE structure to support the temporary ice rink behind Montem Leisure Centre will be installed on Tuesday, January 17.
Six artic lorries are required to bring in the massive structure which includes the complete but temporary building.
The structure is expected to take a week to be built before work begins on the ancillary facilities and the ice itself.
Alison Hibbert, leisure services manager, said: “It will be very exciting to see the main bit of the temporary structure being delivered and built.”
To accommodate the vehicles and construction equipment, including cranes, a larger area of the car park will be cordoned off from Tuesday-Friday, January 20 and unable to be used for parking.
Alison added: “We apologise for any inconvenience to users of the Montem Leisure Centre due to the works in the car park however safety is paramount and the team will release the spaces for parking again as soon as it is safe to do so.”
