SLOUGH Town suffered a third consecutive league defeat on Saturday when losing 1-0 to Chippenham Town at Arbour Park.

It is the first time Slough have lost three matches on the spin in the Southern Premier Division since March 2016 and results in the Rebels dropping out the play-off places.

Slough began the match well as leading talisman James Dobson sent a volley into the side netting before Chippenham cleared a shot from Chris Flood off the line. Gavin James also had an effort blocked in the goalmouth.

The visitors’ best chance in the first-half fell to Andy Sandell, who beat Guy Hollis but his shot was blocked by keeper Mark Scott.

However, Sandell scored the game’s only goal five minutes into the second period.

Will Richards flicked on a corner and the striker found the back of the net with a volley at the far post.

Slough were never the same after the goal and their best effort late in the game saw sub Charlie Moone have a shot deflected onto the crossbar.

The defeat means the Rebels now stand sixth in the league table ahead of the trip to St Neots Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Burnham have recorded back-to-back league wins for the first time since October 2014 following a 4-0 victory at Brackley Town Saints on Saturday.

At the foot of the Hellenic Premier Division, the Blues climbed over Henley Town with four goals without reply at third bottom Brackley.

Goals in the first-half by Gurken Gokmen and a Joe Ward own goal were followed after the interval with strikes from Pritpal Raju and Charlie Samuels.

Although Burnham move up a place they are level on points with Henley, who have a game in hand.

Burnham welcome Lydney Town to The Gore on Saturday (3pm).

The weather won the day at York Road where National League South leaders Maidenhead United were due to play Eastbourne Borough.

Maidenhead, who have a six point lead at the top of the table, make the journey to Gosport Borough this Saturday (3pm).

Windsor did not have a fixture to fulfil last weekend but return to action with a Premier Challenge Cup quarter-finals tie at home to Horley Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).
