THE Len Street Trophy saw medal play return at Datchet Golf Club after the stableford points winter season.

In a closely fought affair, a number of competitors were still in with a chance of coming to the formidable par 3 18th hole.

But, with two players recording unfortunate quintuple and sextuple bogeys, Ian Preston (playing off handicap 8) emerged as the overall winner with a nett score of 68.

Preston beat runner-up Nigel Pausey on countback with Ross Ford (nett 69) back in third.

Charlie Barton won Division Two of the competition with a nett score of 71, one ahead of Dave Brown in second place. Allan Smith (nett 73) completed the placings.

The trophy was presented by family members of the club's past President (1976-79).

It heralds the start of the summer season at Datchet which will include a number of open days and putting competitions for new joiners.

The club is also once again hosting the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Assistant Professionals competition on Tuesday, April 18, which is an opportunity for all to admire how young aspiring pros tackle the course.
