THE CLAIRES Court School J18 quad have recorded an IM2 win at the Nottingham City Regatta.

The boys were racing in both Elite and IM2 quads over the course of the regatta, starting with the Elite quad, where they came up against a very good crew from the World Class Start Great Britain rowing team development program.

With a very strong headwind and being against senior men, Claires Court were up against it from the start but came away with second place, learning some good lessons to put into practice later on in the regatta.

Up next was their heat in the IM2 quads. This was a strong field including a very good crew from Lea Rowing Club who have performed very well through the winter.

The boys started well, leading by nearly clear water after 300m, before a freak wind came and slowed the race to a snail's pace.

However, they coped with this well and managed to open up a sizeable lead to take them into the final.

In the final, Claires Court went out to an early lead over the men's crew from Reading, leaving the rest of the field in their wake.

The two crows rowed a very close race until the closing stages when Claires Court opened up clear water to take a fantastic win.

This was great preparation for the National School Regatta at Dorney Lake.

The winning Claires Court quad included Oliver Costley, Callum Perera, Jack Jesseman and Henry Osborne.
