BURNHAM are in danger of being dragged into a battle against relegation in Home Counties Division One after a two-wicket defeat at Tring Park on Saturday.

Harveer Gandam and his team are now on a three-match losing streak and have not won since the success at Banbury five weeks ago, leaving them fourth bottom at the half-way stage.

Tring Park won the toss and invited Burnham to bat first, taking advantage to bowl their visitors out for 187 after 47.4 overs.

Alexander Woodland was the chief destroyer with his six-wicket haul (6-55), including four in one over, while the other wickets fell to Jake Seagrove (2-36) and Charlie Macdonell (1-23).

Aftab Khan top-scored for Burnham with his 32 as opening batsman, Gurpreet Singh Basran and Fahad Raja, both made 29.

In response, Tring Park closed on 188-8 in 59.3 overs for the win, thanks largely to an unbeaten half-century (53*) from number eight Rory Criddle. Macdonell added 34 and opener Woodland 20.

Muhammad Haroon led the Burnham bowling attack with his 3-52, backed up by Khan (2-22), Adnan Malik (2-39) and Farhaan Habib Khan (1-17).

Burnham are away to Horspath this Saturday.
