MARK BETTS has warned Burnham that they cannot keep on falling behind in matches as their search for a first win this season continues.

The Blues recovered from falling a goal behind to draw 1-1 with Woodley United at The Gore on Tuesday, leaving them second from bottom in the Hellenic Premier Division table. Aaron Morgan equalised for the home side after Jake Nicholls had given Woodley the lead.

Betts has backed his team to secure their first three points soon but he has become frustrated that Burnham continue to concede a lead to the opposition.

The Blues boss told the Observer: “I watched Woodley play Binfield last weekend but on Tuesday they had three of four different players, so they were stronger and are a good side. They had a different keeper who kept them in the game with some fantastic saves.

“In this league teams will take points from others all through the season. Bracknell Town drew with Highmoor Ibis (2-2) on Monday.

“For us it’s frustrating because we wanted that first win and in the second half we were the better side. We should have won the game but Woodley defended ruthlessly.”

Betts continued: “Our centre back made the wrong decision on the edge of the box, got robbed of the ball, and Woodley scored in the 45th minute when we should have gone into half-time at 0-0.

“We can’t keep on going behind, but when we get our noses in front we can kick on, and the boys believe that. But that’s part of football, we need to work that little bit harder and get that little bit of luck.”
