SLOUGH Scorpionz won their second national five-a-side title this year as they won the Lucozade FitWater Tournament.

The Scorpionz beat 10 other teams in the national final held in Mill Hill, North London, making it two nationals in a row after winning the Ibiza Tournament three months ago.

Slough made it through to the national final in Mill Hill after scraping through at a regional tournament in Sunbury Powerleague.

With regular manager Zuf Asghar being away, chairman Nasar Khan took the reins to lead the team in Mill Hill.

The team was well set up again and consisted of keeper Hassan Hussain, Jovan Bains, Nahir Nawaf, striker Hassan Monir, Nugy Khan and longest-serving player Umar Riaz, who finally got his hands on a national title.

After a tough group where Scorpionz finished runners-up behind TCFC from Leicester, they made it through to the semi final to face North London side Pro Evo.

After a 0-0 draw the game headed to penalties with Slough winning 2-1 after keeper Hassan Hussain made two smart saves allowing Nawaf to convert the winning spot-kick.

The Scorpionz were joined by their group rivals TCFC, and after the group game finished level it was going to be a tight affair.

Slough have been on a high since their first national win and continued their domination to win comfortably in the final 3-0 after a brace from Nawaf and a fine strike by Khan, who sealed the victory late on.

The prize for the national win is still to be decided, but with Anthony Joshua being the market leader for this tournament, it will be a nice VIP trip.

Slough Scorpionz would like to thank their sponsor Smokeys Grill for their continued support.
