REAL Milan have been eliminated from the FA Sunday Cup this season after a 5-2 third round defeat away at Bengals.

Goals from Conrad Joseph and Clavin Morgan, plus a man-of-the-match performance from Amin Khomsi were not enough to keep the Thames Valley Sunday League Premier Division champions in the national competition.

Milan player-coach Zufran Asghar told the Observer: “It was a good game in wet conditions which did not suit either side with the ball zipping around.

“Bengals are tough opposition, a good side with a lot of semi-professional players.

“It was an end to end game. Bengals had most of the ball which is unusual for us. They kept the ball well and defended well.

“We became more confidence once we equalised and got back into the game with missed half-chances.

“The match opened up in the second half and, at 2-2 with 20 minutes to go, I thought we would get the win.

“We had to stop Bengals creating chances but they showed a lot of quality to score late goals on the counter-attack.

“I’ve never seen a side keep the ball so well and Bengals had a lot of pace.

“They were the better side on the day. We were short on the players we wanted to use but Bengals were definitely the better side on the day.”

It is the first time Milan have entered the Sunday Cup and, though they are disappointed not to have been given a home draw this season, it is a competition they might re-enter next year.

Asghar said: “It was a good experience for us to play teams outside our area and we gave it a real go.

“It was a shame we never got a home draw . It would have been nice to get the community down to watch, but it has definitely been a good experience.

“It has been enjoyable to go out of our area to play other good sides from other leagues.

“It’s definitely a good ting to get involved with and, if the boys want to carry on next season, we would definitely look into it.”

Real Milan continue the defence of their Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup with a third round tie away at Aylesbury Flooring on Sunday, January 7 (10.30am).
