BURNHAM managed a 1-1 draw away at Hellenic Premier Division leaders Highworth Town despite losing keeper Kyle Bradley to a broken jaw on Saturday.

A goal from Conrad Joseph put The Blues ahead at The Elms Reaction Ground before Bradley was forced to withdraw with what could be a season-ending injury.

Captain and centre back Tom Kemp took over in goal but only Dan Drewett could find a way past him six minutes before the half-time interval.

Burnham manager Alan Paris told the Observer: “We done very well. We would have taken a draw but we’re still a little disappointed really. We went a goal ahead and had chances.

“When Kyle came off we would have been happy with a point at that stage, and we did very well considering we didn’t have a proper keeper.”

Commenting on the injured keeper, he added: “Kyle was due to have an operation on Tuesday but I don’t think he will be back this season with a facial injury like that. That’s not something you can protect.

“It’s going to be a big blow because our second choice keeper is also injured and we’ve been looking for a keeper for most of the season really, since Sam Bunting left.”

Burnham do not return to action until Saturday, January 27 when Royal Wootton Bassett are the visitors to The Gore (3pm).

Paris said: “It’s possibly a good thing because we’ve not got a keeper but we wanted a game as soon a possible.

“We wanted a game in midweek to keep our momentum going because the boys are absolutely buzzing and things are on the up.”
