GEORGE Green Juniors won the Wycombe Futsal tournament last weekend despite having never played the sport before.

Their first match against Milton Keynes Eagles ended in a 1-1 draw. Alfie O’Connor scored the opening goal for George Green before a late equaliser by the Eagles.

The second game saw the team up against previous winners Tring Tornadoes, which ended in a fine 2-0 win. Both goals came from O’Connor, including a fine team goal finished off with a great striker, while Noah Collins worked hard up and down the pitch.

Their next match was a tight affair but a tap-in from Freddie Hale gave George Green a 1-0 win, with Marcus Soanes marshalling the defence well.

The final match was against local rivals Thames Valley Youth and it was a tight and tense affair. Maciej Toc and Joe Porter Bull kept Thames Valley at bay with the keeper making some world class saves.

Jamie Donovan scored the goal to secure victory for George Green in their debut futsal tournament.
