DELAFORD manager Stuart Marks argues that his team were dominant in their 3-0 win against Langley in the East Berkshire Football League Cup final.

The East Berkshire Premier Division leaders won the tie at The Gore thanks to goals from Conor Molyneaux, Cyril Ocansey and Liam Hind.

Marks told the Observer: “The first 15 minutes were very scrappy. It was a hard day to play football because it was red hot and the ground was firm, so the ball was bouncing everywhere.

“Both teams missed the midfield out, the ball just went backwards and forwards, and it was very scrappy.

“We scored the first goal and that settled the game down for ourselves when maybe we were a little nervous beforehand.

“We were totally in control from that point and went into half-time three goals ahead.

“We came out for the second-half and started as we finished the first. We were in control of the game and completely dominant.

“We went down to 10-men five minutes into the second-half, but were still very comfortable and looked the more likely to go and score more goals.

“The better team won on the day, we deserved it and wanted it more. Our performance was very strong and I don’t recall Langley having a shot on target.

“To run out such convincing winners makes me happy and respect to the boys who done very well. It was definitely a deserved win.

“We played very well on the day and that’s how football goes sometimes. It is rare you watch a cup final and say it’s a great game, they’re normally scrappy.

“Both sets of players were tired towards the end because it has been a long season, but we thoroughly deserved the win.”

Marks continued: “Langley are a good bunch and shook our hands at the end of the match. There’s mutual respect between both teams who are very good on their day.

Sometimes you can lose and cause a fuss but Langley were as good as gold.”

Delaford are the current runaway leaders in the East Berkshire Premier Division and need just a draw in their final match against defending champions Langley to win the title.

However, the title can be secured if Langley fail to win any of their remaining four matches, starting with a trip to sixth-placed Beaconsfield this Wednesday (6pm).

Marks said: "We slipped up recently against Slough Heating, who beat us 1-0, but Langley have to win all their games in hand to beat us.

"It might not go as far as that because teams give up and don't fulfil their fixtures at this stage of the season.

"I hope teams respect the league because we've played and won our games. I hope teams turn up to play Langley."
