SLOUGH suffered their first defeat in Division One of the Home Counties Premier Cricket League this season after a three-wicket loss to Banbury on Saturday.

Slough won the toss and elected to bat first at Upton Court Park but they were bowled out for just 161 after 47.3 overs.

Conrad Louth top-scored with 51 runs from 61 balls, including seven boundaries and one maximum, while overseas player Shahid Yousaf added 38. The pair put on 60 runs for the third wicket.

Steven Green was the pick of the Banbury bowlers with his figures of 4-17 from 10 overs, including the key wickets of Louth and Yousaf.

Green was backed up by opening bowler Bradley Taylor (2-28) and John West (2-41).

Slough managed to take seven wickets in defence of their total as Banbury struggled to provide support to top scorer Craig Haupt (68).

He was dismissed with the score 121-6 but number eight, Green (24*) and nine, Oliver Wright (13*), took the visitors to victory at 162-7 with three overs still remaining.

The defeat means Slough have dropped to sixth position in the league table ahead of a trip to eighth-placed Thame Town this Saturday (11.30am start).

Datchet remain unbeaten in Division Two this season after an eight-wicket win away at Dinton on Saturday.

The home team won the toss and chose to bat first at Oxford Road but were bowled out for just 53 runs and in 17.2 overs.

Number nine Faisal Ali remained unbeaten at the crease on 28 but he was the only Dinton batsman to reach double figures - the second highest amount of runs came from the extras (seven).

The wickets were shared amongst the Datchet bowlers with Tom Lambert (3-8) backed up by Steven Naylor (2-8), Chris Peploe (2-13) and Oliver Birts (2-19).

Datchet secured the victory at 54-2 in just 6.3 overs thanks to captain Naylor (26*) and Jonty Jenner (13*).

Ali was the pick of the Dinton bowlers with his figures of 2-5 including the wickets of Peploe (1) and Joseph Thomas for a duck.

The win means Datchet now stand in third position in the league table ahead of a visit to the Wally Gage Memorial Ground from Great & Little Tew this Saturday (11.30am).
