BURNHAM failed to build on their first win in Division Two this season after a nine-wicket defeat away at Wokingham on Saturday.

Wokingham won the toss and elected to field first at The Pavilion, restricting Burnham to 201-8 from their allotted 50 overs.

Opening batsman Rizwan Nadeem top-scored with 44 runs, while Adnan Shabbir made 33 and Adnan Malik 25 batting at number seven.

James Bird was the pick of the Wokingham bowlers with his figures of 4-31 from six overs, including the wickets of Shabbir and Malik.

He was supported by Simon Myles (2-18) and Jacob Clark (2-19).

The home team reached 205-1 in response for the win with 47 balls to spare.

Openers Stuart Parsons and Bird put on 166 runs for the first wicket before the latter was cleaned bowled by Farhaan Habib Khan (1-39) on 77.

Parsons remained unbeaten at the crease with 91 runs from 124 balls, while number three Danny Housego made 16.

The defeat leaves Burnham third from bottom in the league table ahead of a trip to third-placed Harefield this Saturday(11.30am start).

Datchet suffered back-to-back defeats in Division Two following a 40-run loss at league leaders Buckingham on Saturday.

Datchet won the toss and elected to put their hosts into bat, Buckingham making 181-8 from their allotted 50 overs at Bourton Road.

Number five Jonathan Cater top-scored with 62 runs from 87 balls, his innings included three boundaries and a maximum, while captain Jack Parish finished unbeaten on 35. The pair put on 53 runs for the seventh wicket.

The wickets were shared around the Datchet bowlers with Jarryd Wallace and James Rogers leading the attack with 2-49 and 2-60 respectively.

Datchet lost wickets at regular intervals during the run chase and were eventually bowled out for 141 in 44.4 overs.

Number five Oliver Birts top-scored with 38 runs before he was run out by Robert Large.

Captain James Morris added 32, but only Oliver Smithson (13) and Chris Peploe (11) could also reach double figures.

Buckingham worked as a team in defence of their total with four bowlers taking two wickets each, Mark Hulbert (2-12) and Andrew Hall (2-20).
