SLOUGH suffered their second defeat of the season in Division One after a 58-run loss to Aston Rowant at Upton Court Road on Saturday.

The home team won the toss and elected to put Aston Rowant into bat, the visitors making 225-6 from their allotted 50 overs.

Captain Joshua Smith top-scored with 96 runs from 116 balls, his innings included six boundaries, while George Reid made 35. The pair also put on 79 runs for the third wicket.

Smith and number five Christopher Watling (24) added 59 runs for the fourth wicket.

Ali Akbar Raja was the pick of the Slough bowlers with his figures of 2-40, including the wicket of Watling, while Muhammad Haroon claimed 2-47.

Slough were bowled out for 167 runs from 48.4 overs in response. Opener Fahim Qureshi top-scored with 71 runs from 91 balls, his innings included six boundaries and two maximums.

Qureshi and number five Daniyal Akhtar (27) put on 78 runs for the five wicket, but only Fasil Noor (14*) and Ikhlaq Nawaz (23) could also reach double figures.

Adam Muttitt was the pick of the Aston Rowant bowlers with his figures of 3-39, including the key wicket of Qureshi. He was backed up by Dominic Whatman (2-7) and Leo Bethell (2-16).

The defeat leaves Slough in sixth position in the league table ahead of a trip to second-from-bottom Oxford this Saturday (11am start).

Slough 2s moved up two places to sixth position in Division One of the Thames Valley League after a 44-run win at Boyne Hill on Saturday.
