SLOUGH Observer photographer Gary House has selected some of his favourite Slough Town pictures from a memorable season.

The Rebels reached the second round proper of the FA Cup and won promotion from the Southern Premier Division after victory in the play-off final.

Long serving physio Kevin McGoldrick was honoured with a testimonial during pre-season, before the much-loved ‘Super Kev’ lost his brave battle with cancer in January.

Here House selects some of his favourite moments from an incredible season that will live long in the memory of Slough supporters.

He said: “When the pre-season friendlies started back in July there was a buzz around Arbour Park. The stadium had been completed so the main stand, bar and kitchen could now be used.

“One pre-season match that stands out is the Kevin McGoldrick Testimonial against West Bromwich Albion with Super Kev taking centre stage especially as he lost his fight with cancer later in the season.

“Kevin deserved all of the accolades that everyone gave him.

“Next is Merthyr away. We were four goals behind at half-time but something was in the air.

“We equalised on 89 minutes and the sky lit up when James Dobson scored the winner three minutes into time added on.

“The impossible had happened - from four goals down to 5-4 winners. That is a night I will never forget.

“A 6-0 win away at National League North club Gainsborough Trinity set up a live television match on BT Sport against Rochdale from League One in the FA Cup at Arbour Park.

“The team went through a dip following that game, but found their form again just in time to push for a home play-off semi-final position on the last weekend of the regular season.

“The semi-final saw us take on Kettering Town, the same team we beat in our last play-off final to gain promotion, and that set-up the final at Kings Lynn Town.

“The Kettering match was extremely emotional for me as I lost my mum only the day before.

“The day started really early with the long drive to Kings Lynn so I could do my normal away pre-match tasks, before getting the cameras out.

“To win 2-1 having been behind was a classic Slough Town style this season.

“The final whistle went and I ran the length of the field to photograph the players and fans celebrating.

“There was floods of emotion going through me as I made my way back to the party at Arbour Park.

“What a season. Kevin, Mum, that’s for you.”
