THE first-ever Farnham Royal Family Funday was a huge success as hundreds of people attended.

Local companies including Slimming World, Sweet Chilli Candy Carts, Perfect Little Parties facepainting and glitter tattoos, Scrummy Scents and Mrs Blakes Bears were on hand to tempt visitors with gifts galore.

The younger visitors were not forgotten as they had the opportunity to slide down an inflatable helter skelter or run the inflatable gauntlet, while Slough Fire Station brought the blue lights and sirens.

Disney princesses, Ariel, Jasmine, Belle and Elsa were on hand to decorate young and old.

The more competitive took the chance to go up against resident football team, Hedgerley, and Beat the Goalie, or try for the longest drive using a six-foot club hosted by the resident golf society.

It soon became a battle of the brawn as the Farnham Royal Cricket Club darts team challenged all comers to a tug of war.

Guests had the chance to relax with a drink from the bar and food from the BBQ expertly cooked by steward Mark Linley, while entertainment was provided by local singer Michelle B.

It was evident of the success of the event as the club made over £1,000, but it was the obvious enjoyment by everyone who attended really made the day.

Mel Ive is press officer at Farnham Royal and said: “We’ve always been proud to be a community club with great links to schools including St Marys Farnham Royal and associations such as Hedgerley Football Club and the Slough Town Supporters Trust.

“The Funday has given us the chance to show the community what is right on their doorstep, and we're more than just a cricket club.

"There is something for everyone, whether it be darts, crib, great food, social events or just coming to watch sport on the big screen.

"The new social committee made up of a number of our social members have done a phenomenal job to make this event a success, both in raising the profile of the club and in raising funds.”
