THE Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) Athletics Club Under-20/17 team consolidated their position in the Youth Development League Premier Division after finishing third.

The club managed a total of 599 points in the match at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre in Eton to finish behind winners Blackheath & Bromley (744), with Shaftesbury Barnet Harries (699) in the runners-up spot.

WSEH piled on the points in the opening hammer events with A and B string wins in the U20 event for Jake Norris on 79.15m and Bayley Campbell on 69.81m.

Ruben Banks kept up the momentum with his victory in the U17 competition with a personal best (PB) of 52.80m.

The ladies U17 hammer saw a new Club Record from Francesca William with 54.06m for second position.

Amy Wright won the B string with her throw of 44.08m and Rachel Denton-Snape was third in the U20 event with 33.61m.

The opening track event, the U17 300m hurdles, saw Ellie Cleveland and Mei-Ya Lambert both take third place with 48.0 seconds (secs) and 53.67secs respectively.

It was the U17 ladies that also shone in the sprint events with Ayoola Babalola (12.43secs/25.51secs) and Abbie Sillett (12.84secs/26.59secs) scoring maximum points in both the 100m and 200m.

Toby Makoyawa was another double winner in the 100m and 200m with times of 11.12secs and 22.73secs. He was well supported in the B races by Josh Pearson who stopped the clock at 11.70secs and 23.05secs.

Second position was the order of the day for the U20 ladies with Hannah Jones clocking 12.45secs and Rebecca Watkins 12.63secs. Watkins was similarly placed in the 200m in 26.07secs.

For the U20 men, Richard King and Aaron Lawrence both had to settle for third place in the 200m with 23.30secs and 23.74secs respectively.

The best results in the 300m and 400m races came from the ladies with Orla Brennan second in the U17 300m with 40.13secs, while Marcey Winter was similarly placed in the U20 400m in 58.43secs.

Dominic McDougall showed the way with his win in the U17 800m in one minute and 57.44 seconds (1:57.44), with Amar Brabhania third in the B string in 2:11.94.

The U17 ladies also added to the points tally with second place finishes from Amy Young (2:20.08) and a B string win for Khumo Karas on 2:28.22.

For the U20 ladies, Madison Foxcroft was third with her time of 2:26.42.

The top 1,500m result was delivered by Sam Southall, who was second in the U17 race in 4:17.87.

The ladies 1,500m steeplechase saw WSEH athletes again leading the field with Morgan Hanson timed at 5:21.08 and Isabelle Craven on 5:43.0 in the U17 race. Alex Barbour(5:06.5) and Meg Ormond (5:07.53) repeated the feat in the U20 event.

The best men's result was achieved by Pavit Kullar with his second place on 5:11.41secs.

The Jumps events saw WSEH athletes totally dominant, particularly amongst the U17 ladies. Maximum points accrued from Jodie Smith (5.27m) and Klaudia Walas (5.22m).

Maximum points were also secured in the high jump via Temi Ojora (1.60m) and Emily Helsby (1.45m), and in the triple jump with Ojora (11.41m) and Walas (11.30m).

The U20 ladies had to settle for second places from Rachel Melbourne in the high jump with 1.60m and from Diketso Karas in the triple jump with 10.44m.

The U20 men restored the momentum with a victory in the triple jump from Teepee Princewell on 13.80m and Sam Challis in the long jump with 6.97m, plus Abraham Melbourne claiming second in the B string with 4.71m. Lionel Owona was second in the U17 high jump on 1.75m.

The success in the field events continued in the throws. There were maximum points in the U17 discus from Naman Sharma(34.74m) and James Shefford(26.99m).

Bayley Campbell was back in the circle in the U20 discus, taking third place with a PB of 32.07m.

There was a further win for Ruben Banks in the shot with an excellent 15.02m, with Shefford this time in second place with 10.09m. Rachel Melbourne was third in the U20 shot on 9.27m

The final throws event, the javelin, again provided valuable points. Jodie Smith was third in the U17 with her throw of 31.69m while Annabelle Pettipher won the B string with 28.47m.

Jonah McCafferty was second in the U17 with his 39.42m effort, with George Smith winning the B string with 33.50m.

The best of some good results in the relays proved to be the victory by the ladies U20 quartet of Marcey Winter, Orla Brennan, Rebecca Watkins, and Khomo Karas, who sped the baton round in 4:02.9.
