SLOUGH Town continued their summer preparations for the National League South season with a 5-0 win at Staines Town on Saturday.

The Rebels started the brighter at Wheatsheaf Park as striker Perry Coles had a shot cleared off the line inside the first 10 minutes.

Wide midfielder James Dobson scored from the rebound but the effort was ruled out for offside.

The visitors took the lead when Coles pressurised Staines keeper Louis Dixon and finished into the bottom corner on 27 minutes.

Dobson was unfortunate not to double the advantage minutes later as his stinging shot from the edge of the box hit the post.

Slough got a second goal in the 43rd minute when George Wells crossed into the box and Dobson headed the ball down for Coles to coolly slot under the keeper.

The Rebels made it 3-0 second before the break as Dobson exchanged passes with Manny Williams and the latter smashed the ball home.

Staines were unfortunate not to pull a goal back after the restart when a snapshot from Brendan McVey pinged off the crossbar.

The home side hit the bar again with a header on the hour mark, before Slough scored a fourth goal with 15 minutes remaining in the pre-season friendly.

Louie Soars was first to a deflected through ball from Scott Davies and the summer signing found the back of the net.

The Rebels added a fifth goal when Soares played a pass down the line for Nathan Smart to cross for Williams, who was in acres of space and fired home on 81 minutes.

Slough welcome Boreham Wood from the National Premier to Arbour Park on Tuesday (7.45pm), before taking on Hartney Witney this Saturday (3pm).

Virginia Water made it back-to-back wins in pre-season following a 1-0 victory away at Farnham Town on Saturday.

The only goal in the match at the Memorial Ground arrived on 30 minutes and from The Waters summer signing Scott Jackson.

Lorenzo Di Felice took a reverse pass from Louis Sanders in his stride and hit a low shot on the run that the Farnham keeper parried into the path of Jackson to lash home.

The visitors went close again when De Felice hit the post.

Virginia Water host Banstead Athletic on Tuesday and then Balham this Saturday.
