WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) Athletics Club finished third in the Youth Development League Premier South match at Henton.

With no chance of making the league finals and with no relegation risk this year, it was a much weakened team that contested the final league match.

WSEH finished in third position with a total of 472 points behind match winners Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers (802), with Blackheath & Bromley (799) back in third.

The ladies were generally were in good form to make up for the absences in the men’s team.

In the Under-20 (U20) division , Josh Zeller provided good points with victories in the 100m in 11.46 seconds (secs), followed by anther win in the 110m hurdles in 14.25secs.

In the 800m, Dan Brookling took a good third place in a close-to-best one minute and 59.83 seconds (1:59.83).

The best of the jumps results came from Teepee Princewell who won the triple jump with 13.32m, while Abraham Melbourne was third in the pole vault on 3.35m.

The hammer event saw maximum points delivered by Jake Norris (77.43m) and Bayley Campbell (69.65m).

In the U20 ladies events, the 100m provided third places for Rebecca Watkins (12.69secs) and Lara Pleace (13.09secs).

Watkins was back in action in the 200m – again with a third place in 25.98secs, with Marcey Winter similarly placed in the B race in 26.70secs.

Things improved in the 400m with second places from Phoebe Fenwick (56.78secs) and Charlotte Humphries (62.76secs). Winter returned to the fray in the 100m hurdles with a third place in 15.15sec.

The jumps accrued more good points. Hannah Jones was third in the long jump on 4.79m, and then improving to second in the triple jump with 10.17m. Rachel Melbourne second in the B string on 9m73.

Melbourne was also in action in the high jump, this time with third place on 1.55m. The busy Melbourne also placed third in the shot with 9.16m, with Lara Pleace winning the B string with her 8.13m effort.

The javelin also proved a points earner for the local club with third place for Abigail Jones on 33.57m with the ever present Melbourne second on 16.31m in the B string.

WSEH were particularly thin on the ground in the U17 age group. The 100m saw Toby Makoyawa second in the 100m in 11.66secs with Josh Pearson also second in the 400m in 51.49secs.

The hammer and javelin delivered third places for James Shefford in a new personal best of 42.67m and George Smith (37.98m and another PB) respectively.

The U17 ladies made a particularly strong contribution to the WSEH points total. Ayoola Babalola set the trend with a win in the 100m in 12.47secs, with maximum points being achieved with a win from Abbie Silliett in the B race in 12.87secs.

Babalola had to give ground in the 200m, with a second place in 25.92secs.
