SLOUGH Town joint-manager Jon Underwood sees no reason why his side cannot get a positive result against Torquay United this Saturday (3pm).

The Rebels recorded their first wins of the season when winning 2-1 at Gloucester City on Saturday and then beating Weston-super-Mare by the same scoreline at home on Tuesday.

Underwood believes Slough have now learnt to grind out results in National League South, and he explained the Rebels have made a good start to the season.

He told the Observer: “Torquay lost on the 3-G pitch at Oxford City in midweek, which was a surprise, and might play on their mind when they come here.

“They’re a full-time side and had started the season well before midweek. It’ll be a real test for us but one we will look forward to.

“When the fixtures first came out, it’s one of those games you look for. We will have a big crowd here and our support has been great at the start of the season.

“If we can keep on delivering on the pitch then hopefully we can get some really good crowds down here.

“We’re not good enough or established in this league yet to think too far ahead, so we have to treat each game as a big one, but we will look forward to it.

“It will be a big test for us and Torquay are well supported but, off the back of two wins, will be confident and there’s no reason why we can’t go and get a positive result.”

Underwood continued: “We’ve got seven points from four games and that’s a really good start for us coming into a new division.

“Winning is a habit and at the back end of last season we just kept on wining and kept on grinding them out.

“When we didn’t win the first two this season you start to wonder are we going to get that back.

“The only way you start a run is just by grinding out a couple of wins and we’ve done that in the last two games.

“Hopefully we can just get in that habit now but it’s not easy in this league.

“In the league below we’ve had spells where we won five or six in a row, but it’s going to be very difficult to do that in this division.

“Teams are going to beat each other, so if you can have a good week and get two wins on the board then you’re going to move up the league, and that’s what has happened to us.”
