THE Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) Athletics Club Under 17 girls starred at the National Cross Country Championships last weekend.

The girls were the star performers at Parliament Hill Fields in Hampstead Heath with a silver medal performance despite some enforced changes.

Morven Goodrum led the WSEH charge with an excellent second place to take the individual silver.

Goodrum enjoyed support from Felicity Johnson (21st), Eloise Davison (34th), Alex Barbour (45th) to secure the team silver award.

Though not achieving the peaks of their female counterparts, the U17 men finished in 12th position behind winners Tonbridge AC.

After an injury lay off, Jack Goddard showed that he is fast returning to form with an excellent 10th place in the U15 boys race.

The local club finished in 13th position behind race winners Tonbridge.

Another fine individual run came from Alex Tovey, who took 13th place in the senior mens race. The team finished in 18th position.

WSEH were 31st in the senior ladies race and the squad was led by usual front runner Charlotte Firth in 32nd place.

Dominic McDougall led the charge in the U13 boys race in 24th position. The team took 28th place behind winners Aldershot.

WSEH had four athletes in action at the televised Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix where Nigel Levine totally dominated the 400m. Levine won in an excellent time of 46.43 seconds which bodes well for the upcoming European Championships.

Despite a dip finish, Lawrence Clarke had to settle for second place in the 60m hurdles with 7.62secs behind Kevin Craddock of the USA.

Shelayna Oskan-Clarke finished fourth in the 800m with 2:02.96 behind teammate and winner Jenny Meadows.

Leah Barrow also gained recognition for her current form by being given the responsibility for pace setting over the first 600m.

Elsewhere, Zac Curran performed with distinction at the British Universities Indoor Championships in Sheffield.

Curran took the 800m silver medal with a new personal best of 1:50.08.
