WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletics Club recorded some promising results at the National Road Relay Championships in Birmingham over the weekend.

Star performer was Morven Goodrum in the Under-17 (U17) ladies three-stage relay, where she recorded a time of 13.10 – the fastest time of all on the day.

Meg Ormond had led the team off with 22nd place in 14:51. Alex Barbour in 14:28 handed over to Goodrum in 15th place, and her storming run clawed back 13 positions to clinch the silver medals.

The senior men also had their moments in the six-stage event with Alex Tovey (17:27) running to bringing them WSEH home in third place on the first opening leg.

Under-20 athlete Alex Goodall (18:00) lost three places on the second leg, but momentum was temporarily restored on the third leg by Ricky Harvie moving back into fourth with 17:58.

Seb Pencole, 17-year-old Jamie Finnegan – in his first appearance for the senior team – and captain Simon Millett completed the relay for 19th place, the best WSEH placing for several years.

The senior womens’ four-stage event also produced a good result. Dani Barnes (15.10) opened with 18th place, a position held by Under-20 athlete Sarah Chapman with 15:41.

Charlotte Firth had an excellent third leg in 15:00 to lift WSEH into ninth place – a positioned maintained by Becky Atkinson (15:44) on the final leg.

The Under-15 boys team also secured a top 10 finish.Dominic McDougall faced the starter placing 12th in 13:06.

Shaun Hudson (13:11) made inroads to ninth place on the second leg, a position maintained by Dan Drookling (13:16) on the final stage.
