WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletics Club star Morgan Lake has been put forward as a contender for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

Lake, 18, is one of 10 names whose achievements in 2015 have won them a place on the shortlist.

One of them will follow in the footsteps of past winners which include Wayne Rooney, Tom Daley, Andy Murray and former Claires Court School pupil Amber Hill.

The top three, chosen by an expert panel, will be named on Blue Peter on Thursday, December 10.

The overall winner will then be announced love on Sunday, December 20 when Belfast hosts the Sports Personality of the Year 2015.

This year Lake won gold in the high jump at the European Junior Championships in Sweden; competed in the IAAF World Championships in Beijing and finished one place off qualification for the finals.

She is also the current third-best high jumper in Britain - ahead of Jessica Ennis-Hill - and the ninth best heptathlete - ahead of Katarina Johnson-Thompson.

Alongside her impressive sports resume, Lake has taken her A-levels, achieving an A in PE.

She has also attended numerous radio and school interviews to promote the importance of her education despite her intense training schedule.
